Tomato hornworms

OMG I have pulled off about 15 of these little suckers. Luckily they are still tiny. I sprayed Captain Jacks dead bug on my plants hopefully this will take care of them.

Its good you found them when you did. In a few days they could devastate a whole tomato plant or leave it a skeleton.
I hope your remedy works for you. I prefer to hunt them by hand. I have an aversion to pesticides of all kinds which means I have to be a hunter.

I just noticed them two days ago. I spend so much time looking at my plants, I saw there was some worm poo on a leaf. Then saw the leaf above had some damage. I looked and found 3 little worms. If this was a regular garden, they would have been monsters by the time I noticed them and like quiltbea said, plants would have been skeletons.

What does hornworm "worm poo" look like? I found one on my tomatoes yesterday, a good size guy. He's in a can of water along with my Japanese Beetles.

I followed the link, but no photo of worm poo. I see lots of bird poo, or I thought it was bird poo on my tomatoes. Some white, some purple. I figure the birds are sitting on my trellises huntin' the hornworms for me. Are you tellin' me I'm being outsmarted by a worm?

At the web site there is a few photos on the right, the second one shows the worm poo on the ground. If you Google hornworm droppings, then click images, you should find what you're looking for. Very Happy

My worms were so small, about 1 inch when I found them. The droppings were the size of pin heads, purple and round. The only reason I even noticed them is because I've become so obsessive compulsive about my garden, I can instantly see if some thing has changed, lol. It's pretty easy to find the worms, you see the leaves that are eaten and follow the distruction until you find the worm/worms. They like to hide under leaves or along vines and blend in really well, but if you look long enough, you'll see them.
