A-HA!
I think I just figured it out! What the "d" stands for in front of "h", "s", "b", etc.
At first, I thought it was an endearingly sarcastic term like "dumb husband." And, most times that fits. However, I also see sister, wife, etc in there and can't come to making the joke calling my wife dumb. (It's more appropriate to call us guys the idiots.) I also started seeing it used in nice ways, and that threw me off.
But, I saw a thread calling them "dear husband" and BINGO! I think I finally figured it out. Gosh, I'm such an acronym noob.

Kelejan, that's so funny! My nickname for hubby has always been "DB" as in Dearly Beloved. I've never heard of anyone else using "dearly"!

Re: A-HA!
Mama, English was not one of my better subjects at school,so I do not always use words correctly.
So I looked it up, and dear is an adjective and dearly is an adverb. My interpretation of it is that dear describes one's husband, (dear husband) but dearly describes the degree of beloved (dearly beloved). If anyone can correct me, please do so. lol.
Sorry to continue the off-topic. Back to my carrots. lol

I use Dearly Beloved and Other Half for my DBOH.
Watered my carrots tonight and checked the batch which have not germinated yet.

Guess I worked for the government too long. I read DH, ds, dd, as dependent husband, son, daughter etc.

I use dearly beloved. It brings huge laughter from those who know us. My rocky road darling would probably be more apprepoe. DB is far kinder than what comes back my direction. A-HA! Dependent would work well or dominating.

Re: A-HA!
Always thought it was Darling Husband, Sister, etc. Go figure ...
I can definitely understand that. DH , was in the Navy for 21 years. They have an acronym for EVERYTHING! It can be really confusing.

I always thought it was Dutiful Husband, as in the one who takes care of the "honey dos."

I always thought it was for "designated husband" because I heard some reference on a tv show or commercial once!

Since I do not have a husband perhaps I can have a "designated husband".sherryeo wrote:I always thought it was for "designated husband" because I heard some reference on a tv show or commercial once!
