Strange wet stuff falling from the sky!
The last couple of days, it has suddenly gotten dark in the afternoon, with these grey, threatening things in the sky. Then we start seeing flashing lights, and then this strange, wet stuff starts falling in drops from the sky! We think we've seen it before, but it's been so long, we've forgotten what it is.
The plants and grass seem to like the stuff, though.

Consider yourself blessed! We had such a wet spring and now it so very hot and dry. Temps in the high 90s. I've been watering landscaping and garden for 10 days. We are wishing for rain!!

Re: Strange wet stuff falling from the sky!
After our wet spring and wishing it would stop for a while I and my garden are desperate for some of that wet stuff...You can send some our way.
I wish I had never wished for the rain to go away so here I wish to see some today

Miss M,
I kind of remember that stuff too but sadly it is only a memory
. I have hope and to prove it I am taking a "make and take" rain barrel course through the ag. center next month. I hope to put it to use. At least we are not flooding

Yay! I'd love to see some of that stuff here! Although I suspect that the next time we see any it will have a name attached.

It's amazing... after not seeing rain in I don't even know how long, it has rained three times in the last four days. We had a "frog strangler" today! So, so badly needed.
My uncle had started watering the huge live oaks so they wouldn't be weak for hurricane season.
We had a wet late winter, and then nothing. So this rain is desperately needed.

That stuff is spreading I'm happy to say got some here 2 days in a row.
Honestly the first time I was like "What is that noise?" You know your in a drought when you have forgotten what rain sounds like.

Yesterday and today we've gotten LOTS of rain! I'm pretty sure we've gotten more in these 2 days than mid Sep through mid May all combined!

Almost 3 inches this week! Our average for June is 2.49 and we've already beat that. Of course that means there was some flooding

More chances in next week's forecast.

Re: Strange wet stuff falling from the sky!
WOW, we got an inch the other day, just enough to keep the burn bans away, at last check over 220 counties out of 254 (aprox) counties in TX were under burn ban. Louisiana, is under a burn ban, the whole state, andmost of AR is too.
Re: Strange wet stuff falling from the sky!
According to my rain gauge we got 3 inches last night. It has been crazy we have 5-7 days of scorching 90* then 70* weather and night time sever storms. More expcted tonight before it changes back to 90* and no rain.elliephant wrote:FarmerValerie wrote:elliephant, YOU GOT RAIN???? WHOOHOO!

All we have is the rain and unseasonably cool temps. It hasn't gotten above the mid-70s for a few days and today is cool and cloudy again.

Re: Strange wet stuff falling from the sky!
We've been getting afternoon showers on and off still, sometimes just enough to get everything damp, sometimes a couple of inches worth. In spite of this, we are still under a burn ban.
BUT... the Mississippi down here is FINALLY BELOW FLOOD STAGE!!!
No more worries about the levees breaching!

Re: Strange wet stuff falling from the sky!
Grand total for the month: 5.09 inches
Every drop of that from the 22nd through the 30th. Hopefully get at least a few more showers over the weekend to start July off right. Hurricane season has been good to us so far. Of course last year at this same time we got Alex. It is our rainy season, but our historical average for June is only 2.49, so it doesn't take much to get us up to par...just SOMETHING after so long with nothing.

Re: Strange wet stuff falling from the sky!
We had some storms roll through day before yesterday, litterally came out of nowhere, then 6 miles away got some more pop up storms yesterday, not here. Thing about the storms on Thursday is they were heading DUE WEST, very unusual direction for storms around here. I though about all of those west of us, and prayed that if they did get the rain, it slowed down, because it was pouring rain with the sun still shining. That much rain, that fast, is not good for those west of us, it has no where to go, but flood the rivers and streets. Elliephant, I am so glad to hear you at least are getting some rain, with almost every county in TX and all counties in LA under a burn ban, I'm getting kinda worried about this weekends fun, and those who don't pay any attention to how dry it is.
