New beds and new trellis pictures from Knob Hill Dsc03510
I haven't taken pictures lately, because most days it looks like a bomb went off on a construction site...

This is the view of most of the garden.

I replaced the 4 x 24 bed with (3) 4x8 beds, and built some trellis frames.

My snow peas, lettuce, garlic and onions are doing great.

I have harvested most of my lettuce heads, and some broccoli. Brussells sprouts, and cabbage looking good (usually under row cover)

Squat your whole garden is gorgeous. I especially like the three new 4 X 8s with the white trellis frames. How did you secure the string that starts at the top of the frame to the beds? I will have lots of tomatoes growing in buckets and plan a trellis frame, but can't figure how to secure the string/twine to the ground.

One idea I read suggested a board laid on the ground and the strings tied to the board.

The string is tied to a 1" horizontal board that is suspended about 8" above ground. Once the plant is tall enough, you just wrap them around the string.

Thanks for the prompt response. It seems that a board to attach the string to, is the way to go. I can see on your picture (now) the board you ran from end to end of the trellis frame. It will keep the string taut, and provide the support necessary to keep the strings in place between or in front and back of the buckets.

2 words describe this garden: Huge and Beautiful! I assume that is a strawberry box with the PVC post. Can I ask? - how large is this total area?

Yes, I did add a strawberry box this year. I'll get a better picture later when they have more blooms and fruit...

I have about a 36' square fenced area with a total of 396 sq ft.

One word Splendiferous. You've put some effort in there and it's paying off handsomely by the looks of your crops.

Beautiful trellises! I have some ideas for using strings with my toms and yours are an inspiration.

Are your trellises movable? I've been wondering about planting toms in the same place every year.

Yes, I can move them. They are sitting on top, and are attached with screws.

SIDE NOTE: I bought a couple of these and they had a 2x8 board as the header. A market had those topsy turvy things hanging from the top...

I was in the garden on a windy day, and got a big gust, and the whole thing BLEW OVER. I was not nearby, but if I had been...

Anyway, MAKE SURE they are anchored to the ground somehow... I was surprised that the wind could knock that over.

I replaced the 2x8 top with a 2x4 so it would catch less wind.

Wow! It looks like a gardener's amusement park in there. That's really quite elaborate

Divine Bovine!! That's one heck of a set-up you have there! I had to show your pix to my Hubby so he could see what I'm aspiring to when we get settled and buy a house...or a small farm for my garden and more chickens. tongue Your garden looks amazing!

Is that red plactic under the tomatos? Where did you get it from? This is a super fine garden you have. Makes me jealous and now to the drawing board to redue mine.

@Bruce, I got the red plastic "mulch" from a nearby greenhouse supplier. It is supposed to keep the fungal problems down. I am watering under with a soaker hose.
