What kinda grid pins???
Howdy, ya'll - can anyone tell me what to ask for at a hardware store so I can make my own folding grid? As you can tell, I am not hardware savvy. Thank you!!!

Re: What kinda grid pins???
I believe there was another member "ksroman" who had a video clip with the "folding grid". I, too, would like to know what those little gidgets are called. I think she may even have them on her site: sfg4u.com If you find out what to ask for, please be sure to post back.

gidgets
She does have them on her site - 'plastic grid pins'. I'm sure there's a more descriptive name. I will try to get to HD in the next 48 hr. stay tuned!

They are called plastic snap rivets
You might find them at a hardware store, but where I found them was at a computer/electronics place, like Fry's, or online. They come in all sorts of sizes, both black and white. In electronics, they are used to hold things in place in electronic enclosures, because they are super easy to work with, cheap, durable, and non-conductive. I saw them recently on ebay for cheap. For the slats, a cheap set of vinyl window blinds will give you all the slats you are likely to ever need, including spares. They are really easy to work with, just cut to size with scissors (if they aren't already the perfect size), drill a little hole for the snap rivets and you can have your grid together in 20 minutes. It will fold up nicely at the end of the season too.
woohoo
THANK YOU KEVIN!!!!

Re: What kinda grid pins???
The grid I used on TV was the one sold by the Foundation. You'll have to ask them what was used.
In our business we use/sell a clear plastic screw & nut similar to this:

For the grids we use 3/4" screen molding which comes in 8' lengths.
Hope this helps,
Kim

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
