Hello fellow SFG'ers !!! I am on year two of a small SFG project. I love the no weeds, less water, and easy gardening. I don't like the cats !!! Have been reading posts to figure out the method I'll employ to try and keep the critters away from the boxes.. Glad to have found this forum and will be visiting when I can after work and a very long day !!! Thanks for all the great info. Looking forward to learning a LOT here !

Hello from North Central Texas 396615 Welcome to another Texan! The best idea I have seen on the board for car repellant was plastic forks stuck in the ground will the tines pointing up...

Welcome to the forum. Hello from North Central Texas 396615 It is always great to have new people. Best of luck with your garden.

I have trouble with neighbourhood cats too. It is the main problem I have. This past week I got a new catalogue from Lee Valley Tools and they have an item in it that puts out and ultrasonic blast that startles the cats. Has anyone tried something like this.

Here's the link

http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=59764&cat=2,51555

If it works, I think it would be worth it. I would need one for the front yard and one for the back

Hello from North Central Texas Empty Keeping cats away.

Post  ErinAdkins 4/19/2011, 9:14 am

I found this on YouTube. This guy says uses a muscle spray on a used tea bag and bury just under the soil. The spray has things that irritate the cat's nose and keeps them away.

Hello from North Central Texas 654548 Bredar Hello from North Central Texas 654548

So glad you joined us. This is a really great group of people.

Be sure to keep us updated on your progress.

Below is an example of using the forks to keep kitties out. We fostered our neighbors cat, Teeko, while Mommy and Daddy were in Arizona for the winter. She decided my round foot gardens on the enclosed porch were just right for napping in the warm sun, without regard to the plants already there.

The forks worked great, she has not gotten into the pots since then.

Hello from North Central Texas Empty Cats

I use a motion detector Water Sprinkler. Saved my garden many times, and the deer don't like it either. I am in South Central Texas near San Antonio.

Another good thing about the forksis that you can use them as plant tags as well. Just get an industrial sharpie and label Away!
