I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!! My strawberries came in the mail today BUT it snow 2 inches 671790 Down here in Sisseton, SD we skated by most of the storm, but it was just starting to snow again when I went to bed last night. At least 2 more inches on my car this morning, and there better NOT be ice under it! My strawberries came in the mail today BUT it snow 2 inches 950477 I just got my asparagus crowns in the mail yesterday and my onion plants the day before. At least they have storage instructions in case planting cannot happen immediately. Is there any paperwork in with your strawberries that tells you how to prolong them? It is usually only a few lines, in very small print, hidden under a secret flap, needs a decoder key to read,.....

Thanks for the tip! i will look over everything with a "fine toothed comb" lol My asparagus i planted last year was a inch up out of the ground. I hope they will be ok. I have purple asparagus to plant to. I also have 4 blueberries bushes ( well 2 blue ones and 2 pink blueberries) on the way.

THANKS!!

If you didn't find anything, here's some generic info:

"If you can't plant right away, bareroot plants can remain in their original packing for 5-7 days. Keep them in a cool (but not freezing) place out of direct sun. Stand them upright so that new shoots will grow straight up rather than at odd angles. Check the plants for moisture every day. If the packing material around the roots feels dry, add water and pour off the excess. Do not remove the packing material until the moment you're ready to plant."

Good luck!

My strawberries came in the mail today BUT it snow 2 inches Empty update

Post  dreamingoutloud 4/27/2011, 11:36 pm

I opened the bags and put the down in coolest part of my basement. I checked on them a few days later and 1 set was growing and the other set was molding. I called the comapny. They told me they not to of been sent out till may 15th. They are sending out another set on the 15th of may, but if the set that is growing dies to call them back and they will replace them. So i guess it is just a waiting game now. THANKS for all the help!!
