Pre Bolt Harvest pics
Local temps 82 today, 88 tomorrow and 87 Monday. Salad bed can easily bolt with that stretch
So me and my helper harvested what we could just in case (without scalping) to keep a better taste on the leaves.

I wash them and lay them out for just a few minutes to dry off (before they wilt though to retain crispiness). They last a bit longer I find if they
are almost dry before storage.

Wish I ordered shade cloth to put over my hoops but simply went with what I had on hand. Here is my makeshift anti-bolting device !!!!

Thought i'd throw in a pic of the spring onions. Ready to add to the salads...

We'll see what happens after this warm stretch (add praying emoticon here).

That's wonderful! You guys are definitely in a different gardening world than a lot of us!
I like the drying racks, too!

Re: Pre Bolt Harvest pics
Drying racks = Mosquito screens for basement windows. Very cheap !!
I also use them to dry Basil leaves to a crisp in the summer using clothes pegs to hold two screens together with leaves in the middle. Works a treat !
This is my first spring SFG Boffer and I'm surprised too how quickly the spring moves along. Even though I've been here 4 years, I only started SFGning last fall, so only now really paying attention to the weather patterns. Lived in Boston for 7 years and it seemed to go from winter to summer there with very little spring. Long spring season here but you must start early before these types of temps kick in.
