I was just checking, as I was on a website looking at their blueberries and it had noted that for best results to use at least two varieites of blueberries

The reason you use at least two varieties of blueberries is you get bigger berries. My local nursery said Climax is a good pollinator. You'll get berries if you have only one variety, but you'll get better berries if they are cross pollinated...same thing with blackberries. I'm not sure about raspberries, but I bet it's the same.

I know they don't look like much. We just planted them on Saturday. Hoping they produce some this year for us.

It's looking good! I wish you could share through the screen once they all come in. No room for strawberries this year for us. Sad

This looks great!! Are you going to pick off your first year flowers? I de-flowered 2 plants yesterday & it just about killed me!! Smile

CDK, I'm growing Sequioa strawberries in alkaline soil. So far, I've had about a dozen berries. The plants are full of berries and I remove any offshoot plants (this is their first year).

Others tell me strawberries are pretty resiliant...they have dried the plants out for years, replanted them and had them revive.

The biggest thing about strawberries is to keep them on the top of a mound, so the fruit stays off the dirt. Pill bugs love them. The plants spread easily.

@ Josh...how to rotate plantings with a pyramid? Or add more compost when the plants are still there?
