You and me both.
Tomato seed alone, I have 50 varieties. Varieties, not seeds. With all the juggling possible I can only plant 24 seedlings.
Yikes. I've got to stop getting more seeds.

Ok, admitting the problem exists is the first step but do you seriously want to "fix" this problem? SEED HOARDERS ANONYMOUS 262465 I have just begun my hoarding adventures and I'm loving it!

You are definitely not alone........I spend evening paging thru seed catalogs imaging all the things I could grow. Out fridge has two crisper drawer and one is currently filled with my seed collection. I am not allowed to purchase anymore until these are used up!

I get the 'eye roll' whenever I pull out the seed box (okay, one of the seed boxes!). It made every 'eye roll' worthwhile when Hubby was there to see our kitty dig through the seed box, choose the catnip seeds, and trot off with the packet in his mouth. We have no human kids, so I am training our form of next generation to hoard seeds! 🐱

I must confess that I am guilty of this too!
I shared some seeds with my friends at work and will be growing lots of extra seedlings to give away.
Am I cured now?

I took a couple of seed catalogs to book club tonight. They always ask "What's everyone read lately?" and look at me like I'm crazy when I say seed catalogs. So tonight I brought a couple to show them...came home without them...one of my friends took them home to her father-in-law who is from Italy and has a huge garden. He had brought seeds from Italy his last visit there and she saw the same variety in the Baker Creek catalog, so she's excited to show him where to get more seeds that he's interested in. Post  FarmerValerie 4/1/2011, 10:11 am

I'm more of a pack rat, but it's driving me nuts so I'm weeding through, but I'm married to a hoarder, a real live hoarder. He bought tons of seeds the first year, and we still have some left 3 years later. I'm trying again to get them to grow, but since what we will actually eat has filled all available squares on paper, he is either going to have to provide more lumber for boxes, or do it himself. I love growing food, and I love trying new things, but it's next to impossible to get large tomatoes to set here in TX, and those are what he's got, along with some from the middle east. The last 2 years I've gotten very little done trying to get so much done, so I'm focusing on what I can start and finish, and we will actually eat up with no or little waste, instead of all the extras, I just cannot do it all.

If you wanted to...you could start as many as would germinate and donate whatever starts you don't need to a school or a retirement home? They wouldn't go to waste that way.

It would get your inventory cleaned out and you could start again fresh. Smile

That's one of the worst problems with being a seed hoarder, you can't even remember everything you have Laughing

You're right about not remembering what you have.
For that reason, this year I started writing down mine on notebook paper, alphabetically with lots of blank spaces in between, so I can always know what's on hand. I cross off a variety when its gone. I have a special section in my gardening notebook just for 'Seeds' so I no longer buy the same thing twice.

Under the tomatoes listing, I have fifty different varieties right now. Way too many to grow in any given year,...... but there's always next year. Very Happy

A well-meaning relative gave me a subscription to
"Seeds of the Month" club so every month I receive
an envelope with 4 packs of seeds - to add to my
already large gallon zip-lock bag in my crisper drawer.
(Need to start a new bag!!)

Do I qualify as a member? Rolling Eyes
