Buying from Burpee?

Has anyone tried them? I saw almost all the varities of seeds I'm interested in from them. They are also offering a $5 off $30 order.
I'm interested in their strawberry plants too? any feedback would be wonderful.

I've ordered from them, the only downside I can say is the shipping, they tend to be a bit pricy (it's just SEEDS). The seeds of theirs I started all grew healthy plants. The same for Park Seed as well. I'm debating on ordering one of Burpees 4pk collections to fill 4 spots I have now for tomatoes. Also look around on the internet for coupons for Burpee. There's a few sites where you can find, "Save $5, $10, 5%, 10%" off your order, or even free shipping.

This has become a habbit with me, I never go through my shopping cart without looking to see if I can find an online coupon. My best savings so far is about $85+ in shipping fees. I was happy that day.

I use retailmemot, couponcabin, and if I can't find anything on those two, I do a simple search and choose three more sites to look at, and if I don't find one that works there's usually not one that will.

Most of the seeds I buy are Burpee or FerryMorse. I am not a hardcore organic or genetically modified guy. Honestly, I'm a price guy.

That said, I have used Burpee lettuce (Simpson's Elite) for the past two years and it's the main staple in my garden now. It keeps demanding more space because we use it so much and for so long.

I have bought other things, like beans, but never paid enough attention. I can tell you I have never had a packet of duds. And, I have never been more surprised than by the lettuce. Granted, my experience is limited.

Oh, and what a great tip on searching for online coupons first.

I have bought from them several times and have been very pleased with our seeds. Our first balcony garden was all burpee and they produced a jungle of plants. We also buy from park seed company and have been happy with them too. We had a miniature pomagranite fruit tree that arrived pretty busted up and when I called them they replaced it for free and my wife was able to nurse they other back to life tho it was really small and stunted in growth. I actually have an order in now with burpee for spring.
One thing I forgot to add I dont recommend their super starter kit with the automatic watering mat. The plastic starter pots are almost impossible to get the seedlings out of. I recommend just using peat pots sitting on an old towel that sits in a plastic tub. It works so much bettter.

I just got my shipment from Burpee and hope to grow:

leeks
rutabaga
Kaleidoscope Carrots (this is an assortment of colors)
cucumbers
onions
luffa (I'm hoping to get a nice crop for gift giving and soap making)
zucchini
broccoli raab (never had it but it looks fun)
Delicata squash (this is a really nice sweet squash )
snap peas

I'm hoping I can get the luffa in early since I'm reading it needs a long growing season.

Burpee has great seeds. The only drawback is their prices for both the seeds and their shipping. Because of their prices I now shop elsewhere.

Home Depot sells Burpee seeds in their stores in my area. Not too bad on the price as I think I paid 1.30 for a packet of Better Boy seeds. I may be a little off on the price but they seemed very reasonable to me.

I have alot of burpee in my collection. Maybe because they are sort of local based (PA), but you can also pick up their seed packets all over - Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart all the big box stores, for about the same price (even cheaper I think at Walmart). I've been pretty happy with most of their seeds. My first year I bought tomato starter plants from them and had a pretty poor crop, but I can't say it was Burpee's fault (cool summer, I chose poorly in my varieties, and I probably did something wrong to them lol).

I got the Touchon carrots last year but a squirrel took them out so I never really got to see how well they did. I'm trying with them again this year.

My favorite and most abundant of my burpee seeds are my snow peas, Oregon Sugar Pod II.

I don't recommend spending 20 bucks for the burpee pot maker, I saw a youtube video of a person doing the same thing with a jar, for FREE.

There is another video I saw last year (after I bought the wooden thing) with a lady doing it with a can of veggies and newspapers, and I think someone here on the board had a post doing it with a jar and pill bottle.

Just google something to the effect of... DIY peat pots, DIY seedling pots, etc etc. and you will get a ton of results. I also just started using small yogurt & pudding cups, although you can't just plant them in the ground like you can the newspaper cups.
