icebeg lettuce
how tall do most iceberg type lettuces get? I am looking for something low to put between collard greens and brussel sprouts. I have iceberg (a) from burpee where spacing is 8" apart.
Re: icebeg lettuce
i don't know about iceburg - i shy from heads of lettuce because apparently they just don't do as well in small gardens ??? at least that's what i thought i saw on one of mel's videos. . .
but my 'normal' spinach and lettuces are not that tall. maybe 7"? 10" tops i would think. i am harvesting spinach now in my zone 5 garden and those are bushy, not really tall. i don't have any lettuce (yet!). those are only about an inch tall at moment.
hth.
i'm growing brussel sprout plants, too! i have mine on outside squares of a 2x4 box. planning on putting spinach or carrots in center four squares - as i figured the brussel sprouts would shield my spinach a bit and help it from bolting as fast - everything i'm reading suggests that brussel sprouts are much slower to harvest than expected on packet. . .

Re: icebeg lettuce
Thanks Betty!
It was actually your post earlier that got me thinking about what to do. so are you planting your sprouts opposite corners? I plan on doing spinach as well as head lettuce, romaine and loose leaf, even some roots like carrots, beets, rutabega, etc so I can use any of those also.
Thank!
