Newbie with Layout Questions...
Just built my first raised bed garden and stumbled across the sfg method. My bed is 5' x 10' and here is my proposed layout. Please critique or offer any suggestions you might have concerning my layout. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Re: Newbie with Layout Questions...
The only thing I would question is the summer squash. Depending on the variety you are planting I think you might need more room there not to mention 6 plants is going to produce a ton of squash. Thanks for posting your layout. It's always nice to see other peoples layouts.
Re: Newbie with Layout Questions...
I would put the corn on the north side. I missed direction if it was shown.
Re: Newbie with Layout Questions...
The corn will be on the north east side while the potatoes are on the southeast if that helps.

Re: Newbie with Layout Questions...
I agree with Titans01 that it seems like a LOT of squash and they will most likely need more than one square. I'm giving my summer squash (yellow crook neck) 4 squares per plant in my SFG. This is based on previous years experience with the size of the plants.
Re: Newbie with Layout Questions...
Any more suggestions or should I go ahead and start planting???

Re: Newbie with Layout Questions...
what kind of tomatoes are you planting? what kind of beans? are you using a trellis? are you doing full sized onions or more like scallions? I agree, that is a lot of "summer squash", what varieties are you planting?
Just a start on questions for you

Not sure on the tomatoes yet, probably going with fordhook lima beans and maybe some sugar snap peas. The onions are evergreen long white bunching, ancd I guess I need to cut back on the squash, I didn't know four squares would produce so much.
