...and am I really naive enough to believe that I got them all?

Yea, I picked 16 tomato worms off my 10 tomato plants last night and another 9 as I watered them this morning (5 off my beans). So, this girl is getting herself to Home Depot tomorrow to solve this problem w/ a little Tomato Dust. I wanted to be as organic as possible but it's ridiculous when a 6 month pregnant woman is spending hours at night with a flashlight staring at her plants! Talk about uncomfortable - and the hubby thinks I've lost my mind! I really think I have better uses for my time.

I've never been innundated with tomato worms like this! Two years ago I got maybe 5 total - all season! This is just ridiculous!

I've also got slugs & snails attacking my spinach. I swear half of it got eaten practically overnight! Hello slug/snail bait! Luckily, I know where they're coming from so I don't have to put it in my garden. I'll kill the suckers where they live!

Anyway, that's my gardening frustration for the day!

Was that tomato horn worms like someone else posted? If so, I would invest in a flamethrower. There is no way I could pick those things up.

For your slug problem, use coffee grounds, egg shells, diatomaceous earth. I used all of the above last year and while it didn't help then, this year I have only seen about three slugs in my garden all year.

I don't suppose any of them had beneficial wasp egg cases on them? They look like grains of rice, stuck to the yucky worm, and eventually will devour it from inside out. If there are any, leave 'em alone so the tiny (gnat-size) wasps can eradicate some more of the tomato worms, after they finish with that host.
(And don't do what we did, put the worm and white-things in a jar & forget it until the wasps die off, too--'cause now you'll know what we didn't when we found the one worm!)
