Jay Birds August update
We have been fortunate for the most part this year, plenty of cuc's (96 pints of pickles) tomatoes did ok until the heat came okra is still doing well, purple hulls 2nd planting will begin to harvest later this week, jalapeno, bells and ceyenne ar getting off to a great start,
just like most of the rest sqaush bugs did me in only a dozen or so sqaush out of 16 plants, canteloupe still going and we cant eat it all, watermelon so so
In a nut shell I am still very tickled with the SFG,, other gardeners in the area have already shredded their gardens because they cant keep them watered enough and have given up, I did pull 8 sqaures of cucs and replanted,, a few of the seedlings burnt up but I have lots of seeds and will try try again.
Total canned fruits and veggies to date 92 cases of pint jars sold 35 cases to date at farmers market, the only fruit we dont grow are the peaches,, but we trade the peach lady pickles and blueberry jam for her non sellable peaches ( bird pecked ) or over ripe they make great jelly.
Muscadines have started coming ripe.
I consider myself fortunate this year for my bountiful harvest , the lord has blessed us beyond measure.
If your garden has not performed dont get discouraged, I post the sum of it all in ours but we have 560 total sqaures and not all of them have been exactly good producers. while other do very well.
