chipmunks

Pesky chipmunks are eating my strawberries and tomatoes. I have a fence around the garden but unfortumately it is not much of a deterrent. If I set a trap should I place in within the confines of the fenced in garden or outside of it. Thanks in advance for your suggestions

I'm looking forward to reading any responses. I have one pesky chipmunk that has done some major digging damage. I've tried to convince him that the sunflowers he planted came up weeks ago, so there's no sense in trying to retrieve the seeds now.

I've tried a few organic pest-control sprays, but they didn't work. Anyone had any luck with Ropel? My neighbor says that fox urine works for him.

Mouse trap with a Ocean Spray cranberry mashed in the bait part of the trap works great.
I caught a chipmunk the other night the size of Alvin himself.

Now, I'm working on the gray mice that have moved into the chipmunk tunnels underneath the patio. It's a regular pattern every year. But this year is our first year with a garden.
Our association actually sent a recent memo and has banned bird feeders because they're attracting pests like crazy. Thus the chipmunks and mice.

Thank goodness my beds are raised!

The fox urine worked great for rabbits. Then I got tired of paying $16 for fox urine granules and switched to cayene pepper, which you can get three times as much for $5 at Sam's/CostCo, etc.
Now we have no more rabbits, as I've seen a drastic increase in the number of hawks eyeing pray from atop the light poles in the neighborhood. So, they've been a welcome addition. Literally haven't seen a rabbit since April.

But anyway...I've never done much with repellants. I've always gone the mouse trap route. It's effective.
