You forgot the charcoal. I have a feeling Mel has gotten a lot less anal retentive with age. I know I have!

charcoal and wood ash are not same thing.

Yikes lol for the second one I'm not even sure where I'd get those sorts of things locally
Definitely much simpler the more recent recipe. I have my vermiculite sitting in the back of the truck still ready to start mixing this week.

Exactly! In Mel's original book he calls for both wood ashes and charcoal. Now called biochar in many circles.
