bell pepper help

So, I started some mixed seed sweet bell peppers from seed. I know that if you leave a pepper on the plant long enough it will go through the color change, but are some bells just supposed to be some colors? Like an orange an orange? And if so, how do I know when and what the mystery plant is?

i have green pepper plants - and they turn red if left on the plant long enough.

i think the seed packet or planting tag on a transplant probably tells you what color the pepper will turn.

i know my friend has some that turn yellow. but i don't know what the variety is - she grows lots and lots of different kinds.

me i stick to sweet green peppers since my husband is mild palate.

why not experiment with one green pepper on your plant and just leave it there - and see what happens? that way, in future you'll know what it'll do. Smile

it'll just get bigger and bigger. .. .yum!

good idea, I'm always the one up for experiments! The packet (I started from seed) was a mixed pack so it is kinds like "surprise!"

I need to go out and get some new picks while the kid is watching the older Alice in Wonderland.

I'm glad you're talking about Bell Peppers, they're one of my favs.
However, my plants that I started from seed are struggling, and only producing a few small ones. bell pepper help Icon_redface

I did buy 1 Red Bell Pepper plant to increase my odds of success, but it's slow to produce too
(these are just starting to turn red).

I have 5 plants, 3 in the ground, and 2 in self-watering buckets. All are "weepy & weak looking".
The ones in buckets are producing, but the peppers are small.
Geez, where did I go wrong?
Anyway, I would love to see your pep pics.

It seems they start out green, and very slowly turn to their final colors.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing because I bought a variety pack for a possible fall planting and figured with my luck I'd end up with all one kind planted. I haven't opened the pack yet and was kinda hoping the seeds might look different like a lettuce variety pack, but figured they probably wouldn't.
