I decided to harvest the last of the potatoes. I got a pretty decent harvest as you can see below and decided to use the high-rise for carrots now.

I put the potatoes on my balcony to dry a bit and my son in law came up to my little apartment to ask me something. The dogs went to the balcony as they often do, then they all left. Awhile later I noticed a trail of potatoes from the balcony to the first floor. I have no idea how they managed it all in one trip. I am going to search them for pockets...and thumbs.

Luckily they didn't like them so the damage was minimal. Layla, below, denies all charges.

It was one square and I think I put two or three seed potatoes in it.

I am VERY curious as to what sort of harvest I am going to get. It is like having a package under the Christmas tree with a "do not open until..." label! bounce

I actually already harvested a few from this plant by just reaching under the soil and grabbing some. The other two squares both got yellow and died off and their harvests were ok, but not as good as this one. These plants have been nice and green the whole time. I could have left them in longer had I not been so impatient.

My original plan was to be gone for the next week or two and I was going to wait til I got back - like a present to look forward to like you said, but since I found myself at home, I couldn't wait!
