Potato harvest time?
Okay. I probably shouldn't have planted potatoes my first year out. this who not being able to see what's going on under the soil is driving me insane! I planted a 4x4 extra deep box with 4/ft of pontiac reds and yukon golds that I got from a local farm supply store about 75 days ago. I have yet to see them flower, but they have taken off and I've hilled them to hopefully increase production. Anyway, my real goal is to harvest early and get "new potatoes" like I remember eating all summer at grandmas as a kid. So, no flowers yet but today decided to hunt around carefully in there and found a potato the size of a golf ball. Now I'm even more confused! Should I harvest them now even though I haven't seen ANY flowers or should I wait it out and harvest soon after flowering? Beans, peas and everything else I've planted are so easy since I can actually see what's going on in there!

Re: Potato harvest time?
you could pull up one plant and see if the taters are the size you are looking for there is no rule that says you have to pull them up all at once.....
