open-mesh wire cage for red peppers
Help............... I was looking at my book tonight about the red peppers I am growing and Mel recommends that you make these open-mesh wire cages to support them and I can't find that information in the book. has anyone made these and have a picture they can post for me? It sounds interesting and before the peppers start growing fruit I want to figure this out.
Thanks so much.
Thanks so much.

Not sure. I usually haven't had to stake my pepper plants, but I still often do. I use bamboo giant upside down U shaped supports that are about 24 inches long.

Re: open-mesh wire cage for red peppers
I am growing California Wonder and have yet to even stake them either. They are not terribly bushy and stay well within their square. Next year I might even plant 2 per sf. Not sure if your variety is bigger and bushier, but I would not lose sleep over it. The most I would do is use bamboo or those green plastic stakes and some of the garden tape.
Re: open-mesh wire cage for red peppers
I put a small tomato cage around mine and then sacrificed another tomato cage and cut some longer rods and staked mine. it has survived several heavy storms. I used the rest of the tomato cage to make more stakes for the smaller plants. if you can get to my gallery you can see them.
