Do you use rebars in Hawaii?

Do you use rebars in Hawaii?
Do you guys use rebars to hold up a trellis in your garden, like the book suggests? I ask because I've used those standard stakes made of rebars coated with green plastic before in Hawaii. The sun cracks the plastic and within a year, the rebar got rusted out from the corrosive air. So I'm hestitant to use rebars. What do you guys use? I guess if I get rebars from construction sites for free, it should just use them...

I used them....they do rust, but they are up inside the conduit so it never does any harm.

I am in California and the rebar rusts here too. Figure it will be covered with the conduit and so I am not worried.
Re: Do you use rebars in Hawaii?
I used those green fence posts with pvc pipe. I used those zip ties to secure one to the other. It had to do with what materials I had available and b/c I have young grandkids and didn't want there ever to be a time when there was an exposed rebar for someone to impale themselves on. (for Martha: On which to impale themselves.
)
Also HD and Lowes both refused to cut the conduit but I can cut pvc myself.
