Since this is my first SFG - or any real garden, I'm not sure exactly what kind of yields to expect from some of my plants.

How many tomatoes can you expect from an indeterminate tomato plant?

I have four plants -
2 grape tomatoes (Cupid), that have produced over 200 tomatoes since May 25th and 2 regular tomatoes (Better Boy and Parks Whopper) that have only produced 4 tomatoes so far.

How do you estimate how many tomato plants to grow for a small family?

Thanks,
Gloria

I'm interested in hearing other people's responses to this question. The only thing I know to do is to ask experienced gardeners, as you have done here, and also google and take several answers to get a rough estimate. Of course, you never know what will happen with a plant...like unexpected diseases, pests, improper soil, and so on.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with Better Boy tomatoes with few blooms, also they do seem to be having more blooms now. My plants are getting so tall & full and healthy looking but to say they aren't covered with blooms is an understatement.

On the other hand, we've also planted 2 cherry tomato plants and 2 Roma tomato plants that are COVERED with small green tomatoes & more blooms. We've already had 2 ripe cherry tomatoes.

I do hope someone can give you a good answer, as I'd like to know the same thing myself.
