I finally took pics of my boxes after getting the camera back from my daughter when photo class was done. My garden is in a new community garden that my HOA developed this year. You might be able to see some of the neighbor's gardens and the posts numbering eaddch garden plot right in the middle of my box--lol!!! I have two boxes filled and planted and two more boxes waiting patiently to be filled and planted.
closest to the camera is beans that just started popping up and there's broccoli and peas that are doing really well.
here, I have marigolds closest to the camera and then onions and parsnips and more onions--all that you can't quite see yet. Then there's kale, more broccoli, fennel and in the wall-o-water's are tomatoes and peppers that are doing less than well.
this is the other side of the first box. you can see more onions that are doing well. The one pepper that I bought is suffering mightily! First it had aphids and just today I picked two slugs off it! I wonder if it will survive... I did transfer one of my wall-o-water's around it and maybe the slugs will not get to it. I planted fennel from seed, but nothing was doing, so I bought two plants that you see here and low and behold there was one sprout when I went to plant these. So I will have both, it looks like!

Kewl! Where did you get the wal-o-waters? I hear good things about them.
I am getting ready to replant fennel. I have one that looks like it is doing well, 3 that are coming up and two squares that I am going to put more fennel into.
Very nice, hope to see more.

Re: Pictures
I found them at Lowe's and had to ask because I would never have found them myself! They are not the name brand, but they work ok. I had 'fun' filling them... was totally wet and sprayed in the face multiple times! My garden is on a hill, so I have posts either inside or outside to hold them up.

Re: Pictures
I planted carrots, but nothing is coming up!! Is it too early, too wet, or soil not mixed well enough? I can image lots of reasons, but have truely no idea. Some of my neighbors have small plants and they don't have good quality soil, so...

Re: Pictures
If Portland is as wet as Everett then that just might be the problem. They don't seem so bothered by cold. But seeds are funny things. Just when I have given up and am ready to re plant (or even after re planting sometimes) I'll go out one day and there they all will be.
Re: Pictures
Ha! you are right, I finally see one carrot plant came up! Now to root for the rest to pop up, no pun intended...

Re: Pictures
Valientor, your garden looks nice! It has been a tough spring, SO wet and cool. We had TORRENTIAL rain yesterday evening for a spell...sigh.... I have also had to do some replanting - the beans are either drowning or else the healthy, thriving crop of SLUGS is eating them before I can find them! Here are a few recent pics from north of Seattle:
My very first snap pea blossom! I have a LOT planted, and they are healthy, but SOOOOOO SLOW with the grey days. Lavender Deb must use sun lamps?
We planted a 5-way grafted cherry last spring and this year it looks like we may get a FEW cherries to taste. Thanks to my lawn-boy son, it is now a 4-way cherry though... I already have it netted. I hear the birds attack as soon as the color shows!
I tried broccoli for the first time this year, and the plants are big and gorgeous, but the heads are only the size of a baseball and smaller. Is this normal? The variety is Packman. I wonder if it's the lack of sun? We went ahead and harvested the center shoots already, since they were going to open up. Delicious!
Here are my zucchini, which I just transplanted out a few weeks ago - already blooming. The plants are small, and still putting out leaves. My sis-in-law started them indoors in April. I have no idea if this is too early, but I am hoping to attract the bee action around the rhody blooms in the yard.
Momma Pajama - who is still waiting to put away her rainboots.

Beautiful flowers Momma! I love the pea blossom shot. (I didn't use sun lamps, but they are sort of like that, they are multi-spec to prevents SADDS.... )
Re: Pictures
A (grow light ) snap pea
See my broccoli? No? Put on your glasses.... still nothing?
The biggest, ripest cherries on my tree.
My squash has just put out one true leaf. If it ever unfolds I'll take a picture.
Deborah ....who covets your cherries, even if it is just a 4-way (what are the four?)
Re: Pictures
momma pajama, your broccoli look better than mine, and I thought mine looked good compared to the others in my community. My neighbor transplanted their just 2 weekends ago and it has all flowered! Don't know what went wrong there... I have popped just a few small bites and you are right... so good! But I also see that I'm going to have to watch for bugs! I found those horrid flies and their little spider babies or whatever on the bottom of the leaves!
I have 4 more carrots and I replanted two other sq. with more carrots. We shall see. I don't have anything near the peas either one of you have and I just planted pumpkin and yellow squash last weekend after the starts all died when I planted them outside. I don't think I do well with my own starts. My store bought stuff does better.

Re: Pictures
At least you guys have pea blossoms! I am jealous. Mine just woke up and decided they wanted to grow... so I am hoping I will have peas by July!
Re: Pictures
harvested my broccoli for fear that it would go to flower in the sunny weather like everyone else's. They are pacman, so I believe I will get more heads. I wonder if my neighbors cut off the flowers on their pacmans, if they would get new heads also? I started to thin my onions out as well. I'll put them in a mushroom omlet .

Re: Pictures
Sadly, I came back from vacation and discovered that my daughter left the camera in Uncle's car, so I can't update my garden pictures now... until I drive the hour and a half to retrieve it. But suffice to say that it has grown some.
