Re: N & C Midwest—May 2024
I am getting ready to transplant all of my herbs out into the garden from the Aerogarden. Basil, three kinds, flat leave parsley, and thyme. I checked on the stuff in the basement. Super hotties, and a variety of planted sunflower plants. On germination pads under lights downstairs. Looks good.
Got my flowers in today. Checked on everything in the beds—will all need water tomorrow since NONE of the predicted rain has occurred.

Re: N & C Midwest—May 2024
Today I installed drip irrigation on the rhubarb fire rings to automate the watering of them. The plants have gotten so big that it has become difficult to water them by either the hose or the watering can, so the drip lines on the beds will be able to automatically water them directly on the soil. I am going to experiment with the amount of water by setting the timer to water them for one hour once a week, and then adjust it depending on whether it is too much or too little.

Both the summer squash and cantaloupe seeds that I planted Tuesday sprouted yesterday. Was surprised they germinated so quickly, that was only 4 days after they were planted. The warm weather, and being watered every day apparently helped.

That's great OG. So fast!
I have been having mixed results with bush beans germinating this year. I usually don't have a problem, but for some reason I am having low germination rates. Luckily, I still have lots of time to re-sow.
Light rain expected here all day so, time to get some inside things done that have been neglected since I have been outside in the garden so much! LOL

Reminds me of an old saying, "God made rainy days so gardeners could get the housework done."

Almost all of my super hotties are up downstairs. Turned off the germination mat on them, left the one on on the sunflower seeds. We will see!
Everything else is getting a drink from God at the moment! Yay!
