Leaf Shredder...

Leaf Shredder...
Got this little leaf shredder off Amazon. It knocked out about 10 bags of leaves in no time. Haven't tried but reviews on Amazon said it didn't work to well with wet leaves. All mine were bone dry. Very happy with how it shredded the leaves.
It uses heavy mono line like on a weed eater. I cut off half a bag so the leaves would fall straight down and not to the side.
A look at what it did..
Got another good compost pile cooking...

Re: Leaf Shredder...
I sent your photos to my friend who uses a weed eater / string trimmer inside a garbage can.
Similar. Which is what I'll try for now. I need a compost tumbler more than this.
Thanks for note about wet leaves, sensible. Hope this shredder works well for you.

Re: Leaf Shredder...
Yep...the shredder did a good job. Went through about 15 bags of dry leaves and got another 8 or 10 to go..
A quick note about the tumbler. I bought the Vivosun 43 gallon Tumbler from Amazon but will send it back. Only put it about half way together but I don't believe it will hold up very long with the use I will give it. Sending it back to Amazon. Guess you get what you pay for.
Bought the Lifetime brand dual 50 gallon tumbler from Amazon so will see how it works. Another forum member mentioned the 80 gallon Lifetime brand tumbler he has but the company want have them till much latter this year.

Re: Leaf Shredder...
I bought my 80-gallon Lifetime tumbler user off Craig's List. When my back forced me to hang up composting, I was able to sell it for the same price! It has a "break-up" and aeration bar inside to help blend the compost. It has a modified triangle interior so the material doesn't spin free. The lid slides free when it's time to dump the compost on a tarp.
Re: Leaf Shredder...
Still will probably get one if they ever get them back in stock. Even searched craig's list, ebay, and other similar sites but no joy...
We'll see how well the Lifetime twin 50's work..
"twin 50's"...sounds like something I fired a couple time in the military...
