Did you ever think that you would like to have your very own tomato which is named after you?  You can create a hybrid tomato from two of your favorite varieties, and then you create the name for that new tomato.

On the flip side, the article also explains why our heirlooms tend to breed true though other varieties are present in the garden. Very Happy

True, and the same is true for peppers. They are also self-pollinating, and very rarely cross-pollinate due to the way the bloom contains the pollen.
