First frost of the year reference thread
First frost of the year reference thread
I'm in the United Kingdom post code sa18 3b * at an elevation of 117mtrs ( 254 feet ish . ) 9 miles inland from the Bristol Channel
last year the first frost was 27 October 2019
this year the first frost was night of 3november ... quite a sharp one too , it's blackened the tops of the garden dahlia's but luckily I got all six tubs of geraniums in th heated glass house the day before .
It's now time for me to individually pot sow a dozen Hispi cabbage seeds & get them germinating in the glasshouse ready for planting out in the third week of February for April 2021 cropping .

Re: First frost of the year reference thread
My brother in England and lives in the Greater London Area and he mentioned a sharp frost on that day and that he lost some plants. Then followed some quite warm days.
When I finally get back to England I will find a difference from where I live now in Canada. We had a first snowfall a couple of weeks ago, and now we are getting a mixture of freezing fog in the morning that turns to a beautiful sunny afternoon. Not for long, though as it has turned to rain.
But the three mountain passes to Vancouver one has to have snow tires on the vehicle.

Looks like Jack Frost visited my garden. The last two mornings, my veggies and citrus trees were "nuked" by the frost. Just nature's way of telling it's out with the old and in with the cold season crops. Frost blankets, anyone?
