Virginia Creeper
Not SFG related, but does anyone get a skin reaction to Virginia Creeper? I never knew it did this! I get a rash every single year and every year I wonder how because I'm very careful to look out for Poison Ivy. I know what it looks like but it seems I get it from thinking about it.
This year I got Poison Ivy when I was getting plants from my friends' woods (lily of valley and hosta) and had it in 2 spots, with blisters. It really didn't itch that badly and I even mentioned that to my spouse. 2 weeks later I was weeding my front beds, even wearing gloves most of the time and pulled out some creeper. A few days later and I am covered on all limbs by the most horribly itch rash. A neighbor mentioned that she reacted to VC. She thinks it goes systemic. I looked it up. It's not an oil like the poison trifecta.
I've also read a few articles about poison hemlock this year that I had never heard of before. I wonder if it just made it's way to my part of PA.

Re: Virginia Creeper
Emily49, the wife has a reaction to Virginia Creeper but not as severe as with Poison Ivy. I was immune to Poison Ivy until my 30s but I think it was because I was 10' tall and bulletproof back then. The wife also has a mild allergic reaction, slight rash to tomato plants. She can eat tomatoes, just can't touch the leaves. I haven't heard of or know of anyone having a reaction to Hemlock but it did kill Socrates but after research I guess some do have a reaction to touching it.

Re: Virginia Creeper
I'm not allergic to any of the troubling plants - poison ivy, virginia creeper, poison oak, etc. Since our property is thick with poison ivy and virginia creeper, that leaves me alone for most clean up work. I do intentionally leave the poison ivy along the property borders, though.
