Yeah, I need to amend before setting in some fall crops.

Re: N&C Midwest—July 2020
Had a "mini-tornado" come through early this evening. Heavy rain (7/8") with 75mph winds recorded. The tomato cages were knocked over at a 45º angle, but no damage to the tomatoes in them other than some tomatoes knocked off the plant. I was able to straighten the cages and drive a U-Post next to each one and wire them together. One Rutgers tomato that is on the arbor trellis suffered some heavy damage - every place that it was tied to the trellis the stem was broken off. The peppers, though, seemed to suffer the most damage. There are 18 peppers planted in 18 squares (3x6), and they were all knocked over on top of one another. It does not appear that any stems were broken, so tomorrow I have to put bamboo sticks on each one and tie up the plant to straighten them again. All of the sunflowers are flat against the ground.

It's nice to see and hear about some good looking produce from you guys. Here it is hot and pest season, and some plants are being pulled.

That’s crazy! One of my giant sunflowers was knocked flat. Continues to valiantly flower though....OhioGardener wrote:Had a "mini-tornado" come through early this evening.
