I have a reptile heat mat left from having a gecko that has passed.  It has a sticky side that was attached to the aquarium.  It has a temperature sensor/ timer.  Would it be possible to set this up somehow for seed germination? If so, could someone explain it? TIA!

Hi Emily 49, do you have a manufacturer and/or model number? Many seed germination mats from Amazon can do double duty but would be cautious giving advice sight unseen. I have used heating pads when they used to stay on all night, they are almost all timed now to negate burning someone. I used a waterbed heater for awhile, it was the spare and used until it was pressed into keeping the bed warm. Now I use the seed mats and as a matter of fact I have a couple coming tomorrow, one of which is going into a seed germination kit I plan on giving my daughter with a 2' led light and the first light stand I made years ago. Always start small and slow, there is always time when you get things going to to go big, bold and out of hand.

this is the mat, and it is a Zilla temperature controller.  We got this as a safer way to keep the gecko warm because we were afraid the cat would knock over a hot lamp.
