May 19 is the official last frost day...at least for my county in WV. Supposedly the probability of frost is slim from now until October. To celebrate, I am going outside and plant some French filet beans...even if it is only 56 degrees and misting rain. Tomorrow there will be sunshine, so the beans will pop up in no time. I'm trying a different one this year called LaFrance. We love these "haricot verts" sauteed in olive oil and sprinkled with a little lemon pepper!

I still have not got the tomatoes in the "soil", but they will be in by the weekend. They have been officially hardened off -- the hard and fast way! LOL I thought I killed the poor things after leaving them in the 90+ sun at the end of April (a freak warm spell). I figure if they survived that, then they must tough!

By the way, I have come up with a shorthand abbreviation for Upper South..UpSo. I'll try to remember to put it in the subject line so that you can spot it easily under the Latest Topics list.

I like UpSo!

When the new forum was just getting going, I embarrassed myself several times by replying to topics in the 'Latest Topics' without paying attention to what forum they were posted in. I have since started doing a mouse-over on the topic to look at the url at the bottom of the browser page to see what forum they are in. UpSo makes it clear.

I'm still rolling my toms and peppers in and out of the garage everyday. I need to bite the bullet and get them planted!

I like that abbreviation, too!
You were braver than I, getting your toms in the ground. Mine are still in small pots on the porch, but next day off their going in. I've had my trellis frame erected, but I just got the nylon trellis netting, so I'll put that up and the toms/peppers/cantalope and we'll see!

I've been enjoying lettuces and a few carrots out of the garden. My radishes went in later, wasn't going to do them, then said what the heck! So their not quite ready yet.

I just love the fact that there is really no weeding to do! When I pick lettuce I'll see a baby weed or two and just toss it out, but no "time" spent weeding! I've already been plotting for more beds!
