My Intro
Hi. I have just become a member and hope to learn a bunch of stuff from all the pros here. I have have been a pretty-much unsuccessful SFG for years. I started with Mel's book and did SFG for a few years, gave it a rest and now I'm starting it again.
A little about me: Living in Zone 8, South Louisiana, St. Tammany Parish(North of New Orleans-across from Lake Pontchartrain).
Right now I have the following planted: 3 tomato varieties(1 plant each), 1 cucumber bush(huge), 2 bell pepper, 1-banana pepper, 1 zucchini, 1 cantelope, and 1 small watermelon plant. All on raised bed except for watermelon plant. It is alone on another plot.
That's about it. I hope to learn a lot from all of you at SFG.
Thank you,
TenderFoot

Re: My Intro
and from Northern California, TenderFoot. Like you, I started with the original SFG, took a few years off (while we moved around a lot), then came back when we settled, and started back with the ANSFG method. Looking forward to hearing about your latest efforts.
Re: My Intro
Hi Tenderfoot, Welcome to the Forum from California!
Are you trying the All New SFG method this time? Why do you think your prior gardening efforts were pretty much unsuccessful ? We are here to help.
PS. Being that far south I am thinking you must be in a warmer or more tropical Zone like 9B or 10. ??

Re: My Intro
Welcome, Tenderfoot! I did the old SFG in the late 80’s early 90’s, it was very successful, one 4x4.
Now I am doing ANSFG, with a variety of beds.
What issues did you run into? Pests? Disease? Under performing plants? Timing issues? Do tell! Can’t wait to hear about your upcoming successes!

ANSFG
I am still using the old version mainly because I did'nt know of the newer version. I guess there is a new version. I will check the site. Someone sent me a reply and said the ANSFG was easier. I will probably use it newt year.countrynaturals wrote: and from Northern California, TenderFoot. Tenderfoot
from Kelejan in British Columbia
I almost started with the original version of SFG but was saved by going on the Internet and finding that I no longer had to dig down into the earth to build my bed. That was a lifesaver as my land has loads of rocks hiding under the surface and is impossible to dig.
Ask lots of questions and I am sure you will be more successful.
PS No question is too dumb. I know.

Changed
I just changed it. I have to get used to this site. I did that change pretty easy. Surprised myself.sanderson wrote:You can change your Avatar info to Zone 9 or I can.TenderFoot wrote:You are correct. I am in Zone 9.sanderson wrote:. . FYI I ordered and will receive the 2nd edition of SFG. I heard it makes some things easier. I will find out.
Thank you for your help. If I become a pest, please let me know. My skin is pretty thick. I don't get insulted easy.
Have a great day!!
