Re: Tomato Tuesday - 2018 & 2019
I'm in the same boat as hammock gal. Actually, she's probably ahead of me by now. I just plant out my mater seedlings a few days ago thinking it was finally warm enough, then the temps went back into the 40's at night, 50's day. It was actually in the 40's this morning when I went for my walk.
This IS June, right???

Baby Arkansas Traveler tomatoes that set before that heat blast on Sunday.
Re: Tomato Tuesday - 2018 & 2019
Today's tomato harvest. We harvested one large tomato last week and it was delicious. These are much smaller but should be good also.

Every single one of my poor, neglected little cherry tomato plants is producing fruit.

Naw. Near as I can tell we had March, we skipped April completely, had June and July, and now we're in May.CapeCoddess wrote:I'm in the same boat as hammock gal. I love how tomatoes hold their flowers in a spiral that unwinds as they bloom. Especially cherry tomatoes.
These are Gold Nuggets coiled up.
Here they are uncoiled and there are baby tomatoes at one end and buds at the other.

I have just one tomato with flowers (cherry tomato purchased from Lowe's). I agree, Turan - so pretty!
Yolos - my mouth is watering; dreaming of having a harvest like yours sometime in July.

Re: Tomato Tuesday 2018
Roma, Better Boy, and Cherry Tomatoes are all growing. Here's a pic of the cherry tomatoes. There are some white spots on some of the leaves. Can someone educate me on what this is and how to manage it? Thanks!

Nice maters! Are the white spots kind of windowpane type thinned out spots? Or actual spots?

Re: Tomato Tuesday 2018
SR, they are actually beige spots, circular for the most part and some with holes. These leaves are high up on the plant (I pruned leaves close to the ground a while back).
All of the tomato plants are doing well. I'm keeping my eye on one Better Boy tomato that's getting big. I talk to it often: "Come on baby, mama wants a BLT." LOL

Re: Tomato Tuesday - 2018 & 2019
They look kind of like sunburn? I have had plants do that and as far as I could tell it was some sort of injury but did not effect long term health or production. Sometimes micro nutrient deficiency can cause that, but you don't want to treat with out a soil test, except maybe with an epsom drench because the magnesium is so mobile through the soil it should not build up.

Re: Tomato Tuesday - 2018 & 2019
I counted 22 fruits set this morning. Most are GoldNugget and the salad tomato cutting, but there was at least one of each variety.
Probably none ripe till after July 4th though.

OMG...look!
I have tomatoes!!! These are the Sungold cherry tomatoes that I bought as plants. I've been letting the soaker hose run for a while today, to make sure things are nice and moist before we hit the high 90s tomorrow. I've had a lot of distractions lately, so I didn't even notice that some of the flowers on this one had turned into tomatoes. What a nice surprise. I needed that!

Re: Tomato Tuesday - 2018 & 2019
Now comes the wait till they ripen.
I wonder if there is a chart to help us count down or if there are too many variables at play.
