Re: Comfrey
As a followup of my post from last August, all of the plants survived the winter and are back up and growing. They are already bigger than when I took that picture last year, so there will be plenty of leaves for mulching the garden beds and for making nitrogen rich compost.
"In short, the soil food web feeds everything you eat and helps keep your favorite planet from getting too hot. Be nice to it." ~ Diane Miessler, "Grow Your Soil"
Re: Comfrey
When I had access to thirteen plants of Comfrey growing wild, I would cut them down three times during their growing season, right down to the ground and they grew up as large as ever.'After the third time I let them grow the rest of the season to set flowers, seeds and to grow again the next year.
Unfortunately it took me several years before I knew what they were and how good they were for adding to the compost. I harvested them for about five or six years and now after the land being stripped there is a new duplex there and so far no one has moved in as they are not quite finished.
