CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in October 2017
Sorry I am a bit late starting the Canadian thread this month. Just a convergence of docter, dentist and specialists appointments, plus a kind neighbour donating me an excellent fridge and cooker to replace my very, very old advocado coloured set that came with the house we bought and they left their fridge and stove behind and at the time we only had about one hundred dollars left in our account after paying the deposit so we kept the pair but had not saved up enough to buy a pair and then my DH was diagnosed with cancer and that was that. So to get the replacements in I had a lot of shifting around to do as I had accumulated so much stuff over the years; you know my problem, if there is a space I fill it up. Well, beloved gardeners, that's my excuse.
Still no appreciable amounts of rain since June, but the grass does seem to be greening up a little as my lawn is not a complete patch of gold, but kind of patchwork.
I managed to plant a few garlic and tulips and did a bit of pruning of the flowering bushes. I am hoping I will get back to gardening again in the spring.

What a wonderful neighbor to give you a newer frig and stove!
Space is meant to be filled, correct?
Next time the lady visits to check up on Pal, see if you can get some photos of the new, svelte feline. Just email them to me.

I am still enjoying a good crop of kale, a late planting of mesclun mix and the occasional ground cherry and tomato from my garden. I still have herbs galore and even fresh basil. We are having a lovely warm fall here on Ottawa.
The dahlias that I planted in my SFGs got huge. They love MM. I'll see if I can find a recent picture.

Here is a picture of a recent kale salad that I made mostly with ingredients from my garden (kale, red pepper, tomatoes).

Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in October 2017
My computer have been debugged and cleaned up and I am back in business.
It is raining here now, but this morning I missed an opportunity to collect some leaves for my compost down my road which were nice and dry after a couple of beautiful days of sunshine and fairly warm weather; the reason being I attended a meeting down at our Women's Centre this morning being given to think it was an emergency but turned out not to be thank goodness. By the time I returned home the rain was beginning.
Early this morning I managed to get the garbage out just in time for it to be collected. It has to be out between 5am to 7am and today it was collected at 7:05am. I hate to have it around for another two weeks before being collected.
I hope all our Canadian, American and World friends are doing alright. I am just out to walk my neighbour's dog Guthrie and will return to play catch-up when I get back.

We have been having lovely weather here in British Columbia Southern Interior, double digit figures in the afternoon and above freezing at night.
This coming week we will have below zero temps beginning Wednesday night. Some Snow in the hills as well, although I have noticed white tops on the nearby mountains.
I have dug out my snow shovel all ready for the first snow on my driveway. I certainly no longer having a car as I only need to clear a pathway wide enough to take out my garbage can every second week.
Tomorrow, Sunday, i really do hope to start collecting some fall leaves beforr it rains again.

Enjoy it while you have it! I too want to do some recovery and bulking up on my compost pile!
