A few more photos to share...

First the bad news...

This is what the June heat in Kansas (mid-upper 90's most days for the last 3 weeks) has done to my peppers... not pretty.  I thought peppers loved heat, but maybe it's a little too much, too soon.  I almost think I could have transplanted them a week or two earlier to give them a better start before June arrived.  Our last frost came earlier than expected again this year...  Feel welcome to offer suggestions to mitigate this.

Here's a pretty little winged insect - know not what species - on my heliotrope blossoms.  Not a great photo, since my camera struggled to focus on it, but the content is golden.  I love you

Here's my haul for the evening, a single square of Scarlet Nantes carrots.  Turned out as nice as I could expect... nice shape, filled out nicely for their size... and most importantly, taste amazing.  My best carrots ever.  I've got four more squares.  cheers

What do you think?  I think if I got more sunlight to them.....

I know what you mean, I've been thinking about how to keep garlic stalks under more control, too.  I suppose if you bundled them rather loosely, to allow air circulation between them, there couldn't be much harm in that.
That is kinda what I thought....just a loose bundling....just got the very large scapes off today.....they were pretty tough.....will see....

Sunscald?  Wow...I think you got your stuff out pretty early....maybe a cover?  I have never had to do a cover with our limited sun/summer.   But maybe it was too much for the immature plant/fruits?  I mean they grow these in South America!!!!?????  Too much too soon maybe?

Love that little pollinator!  He is pretty!

Dang!  I love carrots from the garden!  My succession planting is carrots!  I have some lettuces and finally spinaches coming out this weekend...carrots!  And I might have room for some taters.  Got 5# of Yukon Gold seed taters at my local nursery store for $1!!!!  Deal!  rock on

Your pretty little pollinator is Toxomerus marginatus, one of the syrphid flies - doubly beneficially because the larvae eat aphids and such.

Kate, Very nice! The carrots look perfect.

I have to shade basically everything during the worst of the summer. While peppers like heat, sun plus heat is too much here.

5 and a half hours in a semi neglected tomato bed....and just clean up, weeding, and I am Motrined and having a glass of Chardonnay!

I cleaned out and harvested the lettuces, some were salvageable a few leaves, most just compost, tough and bitter.  So 6 available squares....carrots for sure...Yukon Gold too.

Also spent some quality time with the sugar snaps and the Daikon seed pods, oh my word!!!  Those things are amazing!  My lunch was in my garden!!!!!

Had 2 little early jalapeños and 2 sweet banana peppers surprise me!

And the Tokyo Cross turnips....wow, did they do well!  Wish I could figure out the picture issue!!!!  I will....anyways.  Really nice.

The butchery that happened in the 3x7 of tomatoes shall not be spoken about.  Let's just leave it at that, and that there is a LOT more circulation and sunshine available.  Sacrifices were made.  pale

In the end, a good day.  Perfect weather.  No other commitments outside Krogering. I love you

One of about 110 Onions from Dixondale Farms.  First time growing big onions only grew scallions or bunching onions, and Egyptian onions.   Pleasantly surprised.  Mel's Mix is awesome.

Dixondale Farm onions even happy in non S.F.G. soil.  South side of the house in a new bed with soil and composted llama manure and leaves plus straw from last autumn.  Onions seems happy but are smaller than the ones in Mel's Mix.

I have been awol for a bit; salad greens growing like crazy, have picked the first peppers and carrots.  Trying beets again but should have been more aggressive about thinning, they are pretty small.  Three of my five tomato plants are doing awesome, two got stuck with the cooler weather we had but are recovering with the recent heat.  I will be picking the first cherry type tomatoes today which is early for me.

Wow, llamamama!  Nice onions!  I am growing Egyptian walking for the 2nd season...looking much better than last year!

And those bulbs!

Hey Herblover!  Same here!  However my maters are behind last year.  Other things were in later so waiting a bit later, but all looking good.

Need to get pics and figure out what is the deal with the uploads.

Herblover,

Good to see you are back !  You are ahead of me with each veggie you mention.  I have lots of immature green toms, but how about the low 50 degree night temps we're having and so close to 4th of July?  Toms and peppers will stall. Green beans are vining and flowering.  One squash flower has appeared.

LM, I know about that!  The 2 toms that are recovering are not being helped by the cooler weather for sure!  But my greens are happy!  I also have lots of immature green ones on the 3 plants that are thriving, so I hope the bodes well for the season after my disaster last year.  I have had a few sweet/hot banana peppers already, but the plants are still pretty small.  It is supposed to get back to "normal" OH weather in a couple of days; of course "normal OH weather" is an oxymoron. Very Happy

It's been some time since I have posted.
But I do have the SF boxes planted and they look pretty good.
I have been reading posts and have been getting some ideas.
I still haven't figured out how to post pics, but I will.
I know cars betters than gardening, but the ex left the boxes here and I feel obligated to use them. Looks like there is a learning curve as I have had some ups and downs planting. But, things are finally turning around and as long as I keep weeding it looks like things will keep growing.
Thanks for the tips!

Hi, South Face!  Glad you are back posting!  And glad you got the boxes, lol, and yes, there is a learning curve, at least in my experience...still learning.

What do you have going this year?

Just came in from watering the SFGs, and now it looks like rain....Wink

Oh well!  Snacked on some sugar snap peas while out there, and radish pods from my forgotten radishes that are actually beautiful and attracting butterflies!  Saw my first Monarch today!

Tied up the garlic, it is shading the cucumbers so I tried tethering it....slipped off the top.  I kinda got tough with it.  The tips are turning brownish, so not sure, will need to research when to pull the mature bulbs.  First time growing it.

Little peppers, maters, carrots (accidentally yanked when weeding.....yum) out there.  Squash plants alive and one has bloomed.  Cukes are trying.  Need sun!!!  Manhandling the garlic tops.....potato is good, planted more this past weekend.

Sugar snaps are really coming on!  I do love them.  With hummus, yummo!

I wait til there are 5 dead leaves from the bottom up before pulling mine, usually happens around mid to end of July here.

Ditto.

I'm just concerned that my garlic bulbs may be swimming in the soaking wet MM with our never ending rain. Hopefully they will not rot. Ths scapes have been excellent.
