Cold and raining here....jeesh.  One of my potted maters has a flower...wow?  The 3x7 is almost complete, ready to fill in under 1/2 hour of not too difficult stirring and stuff....

Goal is to get maters and peppers in this weekend.  Gonna hold onto melons and cukes and squash.  Needs to be warmer at night.

More rain in the forecast.  Yay.  Hopefully Monday will get a chance to get stuff planted?  Have family get-together today, so not doing anything in the squares today!  Have a great day in the Midwest!

We had a long spell of chilly/windy/rainy weather just after I was able to get the last of the tomato plants into their containers last weekend.  They are looking pretty sad right now - no new growth since just before they were transplanted.  I think they'll snap out of it any day, now that it's warmer and sunny here now.  I may have to give them a shot of my Alaska Fish Fertilizer cocktail.  That stuff is great when you have a plant that seems to need a little happiness.

I really thought the pepper plants that have already been put out would "object" to the chilly weather, but they just kept right on going.  I've got one California Wonder that, while it's still a very small plant, it is LOADED with fruit that is growing fast.  I've never had a pepper plant this far along and growing so vigorously in May.  This was one that was raised at a local nursery, and it may very well be another piece of evidence to convince me that it's better to buy transplants from local nurseries, rather than the big box stores.

Peppers do surprisingly weell in cooler temps, I am always amazed how far into Fall they produce!

Saw this guy yesterday on a wisteria bloom:

Great photo! I haven't seen very many bees or butterflies so far this season, but I think it's usually around June that they start to show up in force.

So, no rain today, for a while!

Am loving this weather finally!  Warm days, cool nights....we do not need any more rain, but I am sure I will eat those words!

One more day of May, can you believe it?  For me, it has been a late season....just super cold and wet this spring set me back....

Somehow that doesn't translate to anything meaningful as far as harvest!  Hope that holds true!

What are we looking forward to for June?  Me?   A break....a bit of a lull.

Glad the warmer sunny weather has finally reached you!

I, too, finally - FINALLY! - got the last of my plants I started indoors or purchased out to their permanent homes (for this season), as of Monday. My container tomato plants are coming to life again, and those in the square foot beds are going absolutely nutso! I've shot some photos, but I'm too tired to post them now. I'll squirt them up when I get a chance...

Oooo!  I still have some sunflowers (yes!!!!), 2 nasturtiums, and cukes, melons, and squash to get in this weekend.  But the bulk heavy lifting is done.  Melons all go in the containers in the South Annex...LOL!  Sunflowers and nasturtiums go in the dirt. They did much better there....

I will try to get some pics too!

My new 3x7 is shallower than I am used to but it is the recommended depth from ANSFG....that is my mater bed.  And room for one squash.  Will get the stakes in this weekend....
