New Forum Feature
I've activated a feature on the forum that was used in a different form long ago. Some may remember the "thumbs up feature". Anyway, now displayed under the username at the bottom of a post on the left hand side is a "thanks" button.

If you have found the post helpful, nice or like it, feel free to give thanks!
On a side note, I can change the word "thanks" to "Like" if that would be preferred.
And lastly, @trolleydriver, I just used your post above sandersons as a visual to what the "thanks" feature looks like without being "thanked" yet

Re: New Forum Feature
I vote for leaving it as "thanks." We have other short cuts.
+1 = I agree
= Love it
= Congrats or great job
= funny
These are just a few on the first page.
The word "like" has been beaten to death on Facebook. Too generic. Facebook now has emojis such as sad, mad, surprise, laugh, love it and thumbs up to meet the needs of its users.
Nice, Rooster.

Re: New Forum Feature
Cool feature!
And once again, (due to Windows 10, I'm guessing) I can't post anything like it. When I hit your thanks button, RoOsTeR, it just de-highlighted (is that even a word?) and did nothing.... Insert sad-faced emoticon here.
Oh, well. This will be interesting to watch!! :-)

Interesting. Working just fine when I tested on Windows 10, 7, Vista, Linux and Chromium/Chrome browser. The "de-highlighted" indicates that you've given thanks (

I think the answer to both questions is "no".Kelejan wrote:Do you know who is thanking you? Do the Thanks carry on to your next post?

Correct. Just a simple "like" feature with the push of a button.trolleydriver wrote:I think the answer to both questions is "no".Kelejan wrote:Do you know who is thanking you? Do the Thanks carry on to your next post?

Oh, it's something with MY computer! And it started after I loaded Win10 on it... Can't START a PM (tried/wanted to PM you this morning - & I CAN answer them), can't insert emoticons, etc...
Thanks for the further info on it de-highlighting...

Re: New Forum Feature
UPDATE:
The old "Thanks" system broke! For those interested, the server host for the other system was taken down.
I've made a few changes, and long story short...there is now a little green thumb in the upper right hand corner (instead of bottom left) of posts.
The old "thank" counts did carry over to what is in place now.
Use if you like. Or not
Note: you can't "like/thumbs up" your own post, so it only appears on others posts.
