Nov. 2016 Avatar; or Just Sick of your Avatar!
OK, I am already moving mentally into November after the clean out today. Same this adorable bumblebee on my volunteer Cottage Red marigolds, and he actually was still there when I got out back with my camera!

ADORABLE! Bumblebees are the bomb!

So, what's the theme? Anything goes? I missed October due to sickness, so I'm ready for something new.

I don't think I will ever get sick of my Avatar.
I may replace it sometime with another picture of my Jazz.

We just got our first serious harvest of kale. I was afraid it would be tough or bitter, but it was AWESOME! I am absolutely thrilled with the dwarf curly variety. It made it through our horrendous summer and is definitely worthy of avatar status.

That looks superlicious, countrynaturals.
Such a lovely green.

Since compost and a new compost bin are the focus of my attention at this time, I will go with a bin avatar.

Can't believe I've STILL got a cherry tomato plant plugging and chugging along on my "squash arch".
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Same here. I found a nice, ripe little plum tomato while cleaning up. That was a great snack.sfg4uKim wrote:Can't believe I've STILL got a cherry tomato plant plugging and chugging along on my "squash arch".

I had 4 ripe Cherokee Purples and a small, handful of Sungold when I pulled the plants. And a bunch of greenies. One last BLT! Or 2.... Eat fast! Those maters do not wait! All my CPs had crack so bad.....uneven watering, and I am sure a deficiency because I used store stuff for my start up compost.

My tomatoes stole the show in my SFGS this year- so they will continue to be my Avatar. I had so many different varieties that I literally lost track.

Time for a new avatar. I'd prefer something with beetles, but they are pretty much out of season. So here's a photo I took of some of the tabletop-ripened tomatoes that lent themselves to a heart-shape on the cutting board; a mix of Green Zebra, Black Krim, and Rutgers.

Since there is nothing much happening in the garden I decided the morning sunrise today was worth preserving, from my front porch --

That's a beautiful sight, LM...
I figure my avatar is very appropriate, so it's not changing anytime soon, lol!
