Fire ant fact
One thing us soggy southern gardeners all know for a fact in periods of heavy rain fire ants all head for the garden boxes its the high ground in our yards.
Re: Fire ant fact
Or inside the house (around here)...
I sent DH for ant baits the other day. He went to 3 different WM's and they were ALL out!

Re: Fire ant fact
I use a liquid ant and roach killer around the base of our house, heavy at the door jams. I spray a stream around 1ce a year and after really bad rain or a hurricane but I would not use it in the yard around our grdens and fruit trees. I hate to broadcast ant poison cause It effects our back yard eco system. I am gonna hafta spot poison the mounds and the garden boxes though cause like the weeds they are out of control
Re: Fire ant fact
I have been putting out those Terro baits. Everywhere we step there are ants. Not necessarily ant hills all over but just ants running everywhere.. They are not the big red fire ants but are small brown ants that sting and leave a big pussy welt. I am almost ready to just use a spreader and spread ant killer all around the outside of the garden. AM, what type of ant bait were you trying to find. There are so many brands.
