On the ground you might see grass and fallen leaves, but underneath a whole world is working away. Insects bury their way for food and shelter, fungi breaks down organic material, and roots grow to find nutrients and water. Josh Williams repurposed an old scanner and buried it in soil. The time-lapse images captured a beautiful world that we almost never see.

Amazing! I wish it was longer...I could watch that all day. It's like spying on a hidden world.

jimmy cee have you seen it. this is your world, seeing that composting material getting ready for the garden bed and making compost tea.

Interesting video clip ..even more revealing , I now know what you guys are meaning when you refer to things as Pill bugs.. aka here in Great Britain as wood lice . ( it's only taken six years of me being a site member )
