I've got mater sprouts!
From Feb 9, 2011 |
These are the first I noticed! I also saw another one, my plum lemon has one going strong. I got my heating mat today and it's proof that the soil was just a still bit chilly for the tomatoes. Because there was nothing up at 4 o'clock this afternoon. I was getting ready to put a little bit of vermiculite on the top of the mixture when I noticed them. How exciting.
I posted a few pictures (they're in a slide show though to save space and stuff) of the first sprouts I saw a few days ago (the previous post) and then the ones I wanted to picture today (along with what I made for dinner). So excited. They're all on my blog (link in my sig below if you're interested). Now I just have to purchase my beds to plant all these things when they're ready to be planted. lol.

Bean Time Lapse
I've been under the weather since Friday, but managed to play around with the time lapse pictures I took of my Florida Speckled Butter Beans today. Of course, I picked the wrong ones to pick at that time, they were a bit slow, because two "squares" down the Asparagus Yard Long decided they wanted to have a go. Either or, it's still fascinating to watch. Nothing fancy, requires about two minutes of your time. I would have started another thread, but since I started this one, and it's kinda the same thing as mater sprouts...
Happy Valentines Day everyone. I'm going to go back to bed.

Thank you so much.
I enjoyed watching the leaves open on the bean. That was really interesting.

Cool! Have you seen the documentary about plants with David Attenborough? I think it's called The Secret Life of Plants, but I could have that wrong. It's really wonderful and there's some footage like that, although it's got to be more exciting when it's your plant!

Re: I've got mater sprouts!
Watching the butterbeans really growing and pulling up into the light was fascinating. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it.
