Newbie from North Dakota
Hey everyone, as the title says I'm a Newbie from ND. New to square foot gardening, and never had a garden of my own of any kind actually. Most surprisingly, I'm not the biggest vegetable eater. I wanted to start eating healthier and expanding what foods I eat. Getting excited about building the garden has made me go back and revisit vegetables in general; things I had long ago had put on the "disgusting list". I am busy planning my garden for next year, with my main project right now being to figure out what I like and would eat. Although right now I have to be very discrete about planning my garden; as even though my fiancee was very supportive of the idea initially, she has since banned me from talking about gardening to her until after our wedding in 2 and a half weeks... apparently I'm too enthusiastic about the garden and not paying enough attention to wedding planning! OOPS!

Newbie from North Dakota - 1st garden plan
Hey everyone,
Here's my tentative plan for my first SFG that I plan to build this fall and plant next spring (Possibly a couple squares of fall crops yet this year if I find the time to build the box early enough). Are there any obvious red flag that I might have missed? The side with the tomatoes is the north side and they will be on a trellis.
I'm a carnivore that is trying to get more veggies in so I am still trying out a lot of veggies I've either never tried or haven't tried since I was a kid. Depending on what I find out I like, the plan may very well change.
Thanks

and all the best to your wedding and your future life

Take your time and don't rush things as I think it will pay you to give full attention to the wedding for now. Keep your partner happy and that will pay dividends. After all, you have the winter to plan and perhaps build a couple of boxes. When you have time, drop in here with your plans and we can chat about them.
Good to know that you are trying to extend your diet with home grown veggies. I think you will find that when you start growing your own, they seem to taste much better than store-bought stuff.

Hi Rob, Priorities first! We will still be here after the wedding. I think the plans look fine. You will learn so much from your first year. I'm an omnivore, and I think growing vegetables is a great way to learn to love veggies. Snacking your way around the box. Sauteing something you have never tried before. Making your first smoothie! See you in a couple of weeks.
