As my neighbor says, "Every time I look over at your place I get Garden Envy..." I think there is something that says, "Thou shalt not envy your neighbors garden.." LOL

Speaking for asparagus, a few days ago I was out mowing the back 40 to clean it up a little, and noticed some "wild" asparagus growing in the area where I had previously piled brush trimmings. I occurred to me that apparently over the years when I cleaned the asparagus bed and threw the trimmings on the brush pile some of the seeds fell to the ground and germinated. That area hasn't been used for brush for a number of years, since I purchased a chipper/shredder, and apparently the soil being bare allowed the seeds to sprout and grow. I harvested over a dozen spears from that "new asparagus patch".

Don’t be jealous! Just take notes, every year, and every plant is different! Make sure you plant things you like to eat, too. Start early, that is a recurring mistake I make! I am way later than some, but I have a full time job….something’s gotta give….and it is usually the garden.Guinevere wrote:I'm so jealous. Re: What Have You Picked From Your Garden Today
I appear to have a much greener thumb when it comes to trees, flowers, and shrubs than I do with vegetables. I try to take notes, but sometimes the mental notes don't end up transcribed before I forget! But if I get some yellow beans, green beans, tomatoes, and peppers, I'll consider the year a win. Corn would be a bonus. I do wish I'd planted lettuce, but oh well. My roses and other perennials are doing well.Scorpio Rising wrote:Don’t be jealous!
