'maters & herbs
Also still getting bell peppers which didn't really even start to grow until about September, and of course the herbs are still going gang busters! I hope to end up with a year's worth of basil!

Yay! The trees have started to turn colors and the weather looks like it will be beautiful (not as hot!)

Yes, and used in cooking throughout the winter.

I ended up relegating my squash. Both summer and winter, to my cold frame mostly due to open space. Not a good idea. But I did get plenty of production….

Summer Squash - Fall 2023
I could have let it grow bigger, but my neighborhood skunk has taken to snacking on zucchini in that irritating way that animals do where they destroy it with a bite but don't actually eat it. Although, maybe it's a neighborhood coyote. But that's another story. Anyways, I decided to play it safe and harvest it -- it's actually 11 inches long, though somehow it looks shorter than that in the photo.
If you're wondering why there's a garden stake in the photo ... the zucchini was lonely.

I am so jealous! 16ºF here this morning, and the gardens are snuggled into their beds for the winter.

How do you store your potatoes, sanderson? Mine don’t hold for very long. And my basement doesn’t seem cold enough. I don’t know….
