As a professional artist - I have to say I am *terribly embarrassed* at posting this undecorated, unbeautified but completely effective piece of gardening equipment  Wink

We use a short palette in the middle to make tossing over the top easier.  We do Berkeley composting in this setup.  I need another day or two of gathering materials to have a full pile.  It's a little over 1/2 full right now.  Then it will cook for 4 days, then turn every other day for another 7 turns.  Our cows are leaving for higher pastures in a week or so, so I'll be gathering everything I can before they leave.  Once this is full, I just pile up the manure and straw and let it sit until I need more material.

NOTE - EDIT: I moved the other pictures over to the Northern Calif. post (I realized they were off topic)

I don't actually have cows (at least not this year) we let the land be used by a local family for pasture land and feeding during the winter.  We get the "bounty" of cow waste products and a little beef from time to time and we share our produce with their family.  The mom is utterly addicted to my cherry tomatoes, lol!

They are so kind as to let me have their rotten hay bales when they have them so I rarely have to buy anything to work with my composting.

It's good to have friends  I love you
