How to drink your kale
...Or just about any other leafy, green vegetable. One of the most prolific and trouble free veggies I'm growing this year is Kale. (fingers crossed) I know it's super nutritious, but, I don't get terribly excited about just picking it, cooking it and eating the tiny amount that's left when cooked. Yet it continues to scream for my attention every time I walk by it.
So-o-o... I found this recipe and I can vouch for the fact that it works, is delicious and so easy. Perfect treat on these super hot days.

Kale smoothie that doesn't taste like kale.
I used milk and a little yogurt because I didn't have the coconut/almond milk.
Today I substituted beet greens and I think any green veggie would work.

Thanks for that recipe. I should have lots of kale this year and don't want it to go to waste. Thanks again.

I never would have thought to mix kale with bananas, but it looks great, I'll add it to my list of recipes.
Kale is also a great way to supercharge some vegetable juice. I just blend a small hand-full (1/2 cup?) of kale greens and a tablespoon of almonds into 2 cups of V8 (or whatever store brand of vegetable juice you like).

We will have to try the recipe using our brand new Vitamix blender that we got a couple of days ago. There are lots of these smoothie recipes to try. My SFG spinach will soon be ready for a spin in the blender.

Re: How to drink your kale
As I type this, a green-purple smoothie sits on the place mat on the table half-consumed. I am enjoying a kale-beet-collard-orange-coconut-blueberry smoothie this morning with a little scoop of Green Vibrance powder.
The previous recipe is an excellent one, except for people like me that are allergic to bananas. Here is an optional smoothie from John Kohler at www.growingyourgreens.com.

Yum, I love green smoothies.
My morning smoothies are all the same except I switch out the greens between kale, collards, spinach, turnip greens, etc, and switch out the protein between whey, hemp and raw egg:
That's chia seeds in the little baggie.

Re: How to drink your kale
I never in a million years would have thought of blending kale and bananas, either.
I found a really nice totally unused blender/smoothie maker at the thrift shop for $10!
Addictive for both the taste and the ease of preparation IMO.
The basic recipe is so easy that it seems like endless personal adjustments could be easily made.
