A quick run out to the stables  netted me these few containers of horse manure.
Figured I would transfer my pile from one to the other and this would be a great mix

Only a gardener would find a way to haul horse manure in the family vehicle. Very Happy

Protect the floor, check. Ride with open windows, check.
Remove buckets and keep windows open for awhile to aerate afterwards, check.
Sounds very reasonable to me  What a Face

I do the same thing Jimmy.  Across town I have a horse barn conection and can go get some a lil more composted than what you are showing any time I want.  Any where from 4 to 8 5 gallon buckets usually.   When they clean their barn they stack it in big piles on one end of a fence line and move to the next pile etc all the way down the fence.  I just go to the oldest pile and get all I want.  This is one of the uses of my bucket trick is to keep those buckets free and unstuck for when I want them.

Worms love horse manure, but my dog has an unusual affinity for it too. If I don't keep an eye on her when I bring  home a fresh batch, she'll head for the pile and roll in it. I used to top dress my beds with fresh stuff, but she'd sniff it out and roll around in my veggies. So now I have to be sure the new horse manure get put away in the compost pile ASAP- and no more fresh stuff on my beds.

Ugh, one of our dogs loves to do that with any kind of poop. She'll smear her neck and shoulders and the front of her chest through it. Pretty horrific result when she comes up to you and wants to snuggle.

One of our dogs will do that just a little, every rare so often, and one doesn't do it at all. Funny how different dogs can be even on such primal things.

Marc,

That is about the funniest thing I have read since re-reading Jack Paar's old Water Closet letter that caused him to leave the air when NBC wouldn't let him even say "WC" for water closet.

I laughed so hard, I almost choked on my kombucha.

Full audio of Paar's leaving the show:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4mq19SYNoE

If you want to read Paar's WC letter, this should make you crack up:

An English lady, while visiting Switzerland, was looking for a room, and she asked the schoolmaster if he could recommend any to her. He took her to see several rooms, and when everything was settled, the lady returned to her home to make the final preparations to move.

When she arrived home, the thought suddenly occurred to her that she had not seen a “W.C.” [water closet, a euphemism for toilet] around the place. So she immediately wrote a note to the schoolmaster asking him if there were a “W.C.” around. The [Swiss] schoolmaster was a very poor student of English, so he asked the [Swiss] parish priest if he could help in the matter. Together they tried to discover the meaning of the letters “W.C.,” and the only solution they could find for the letters was “Wayside Chapel.” The schoolmaster then wrote to the English lady the following note:

Dear Madam:
I take great pleasure in informing you that the W.C. is situated nine miles from the house you occupy, in the center of a beautiful grove of pine trees surrounded by lovely grounds. It is capable of holding 229 people and it is open on Sunday and Thursday only. As there are a great number of people and they are expected during the summer months, I would suggest that you come early: although there is plenty of standing room as a rule. You will no doubt be glad to hear that a good number of people bring their lunch and make a day of it; while others who can afford to go by car arrive just in time.

I would especially recommend that your ladyship go on Thursday when there is a musical accompaniment. It may interest you to know that my daughter was married in the W.C. and it was there that she met her husband. I can remember the rush there was for seats. There were ten people to a seat ordinarily occupied by one. It was wonderful to see the expression on their faces. The newest attraction is a bell donated by a wealthy resident of the district. It rings every time a person enters.

A bazaar is to be held to provide plush seats for all the people, since they feel it is a long felt need. My wife is rather delicate, so she can’t attend regularly. I shall be delighted to reserve the best seat for you if you wish, where you will be seen by all. For the children, there is a special time and place so that they will not disturb the elders. Hoping to have been of service to you, I remain,

Sincerely,
The Schoolmaster

Amazing that someone would actually get in trouble for that! I've never been behind the mock horror at "dirty" words from almost everyone even though they're so commonly used. It's even sillier when the "dirty" word is something like "toilet" or "water closet."
