my latest project
Wanted to share some pictures of my latest DIY project. My yard is very small, so I like to take advantage of all the space available. I started this project over the weekend and finished it up today. It is a plant stand/potting bench/greenhouse. I've been thinking about this project for awhile and decided since the strawberry tower project worked out I'd give this project a try.

Here it is as a potting bench or plant shelf.

I made it to slide over the basement window well on the south side of the house.

Here it is in greenhouse mode.
These are pictures of the strawberry tower I made a few weeks ago.

Wow, beautiful but how do you get inside it. ??? It doesn't look like the top opens up but I may just be missing something.lyndeeloo wrote:

Re: my latest project
You've just given me a great idea !!!
I have a 5 foot space facing southern exposure, a cement pad is there and I would be able to put up a similar unit such as you have..
Yours look fantastic, I'll need to get to my drawing boards...LOL...I have none

Re: my latest project
Jimmy cee I bet you used all your drawing boards to build your last raised bed.
Time to go looking for some more freebie building materials
Thanks for the feedback everyone! When the sun comes out I hope to fill the greenhouse up with the seedlings from under the lights in the basement. They are battling for space and light and need to get outside.

Wow! That is one nice strong looking shelf/bench/greenhouse, lyndeeloo! VERY impressive! I keep saying that when I retire I'm going to learn woodworking. You're so lucky that your dad taught you that. My dad didn't do anything like that. He was an accountant.

I copied your images, after my potato project is done I think I will look into setting up a similar addition on the south side of my house..just a thought now.

Lyndeeloo, you are so talented. I love both of your projects, well done! Are you really blocking your basement window? I only ask out of concern in case you need to crawl out that window in an emergency. I am not trying to put a damper on your shelf/bench/greenhouse because it is wonderful!

Re: my latest project
Thank you for your concern Tricia, l truly appreciate it. Unfortunately the previous owner sealed the window shut with some sort of tar. All the basement windows were that way. I was able to get one open after several days of scraping. I worked on another one and broke the frame and had to replace the whole thing. After that I gave up. I'm not so sure I could squeeze through it anyways. Tiny little windows.Triciasgarden wrote:Lyndeeloo, you are so talented. I love both of your projects, well done!
